Sentinel Trees Research Featured in Science Magazine
ProForest co-founder Dr. Jiri Hulcr was featured in Science Magazine for his work using sentinel trees to detect potential forest pests in China.
Jiri and his collaborators have established small plantations in China with oak, pine and citrus trees that are all commercially valuable in the southeast U.S. To date, they have detected eight species of concern. Proactive forest health research, including use of sentinel trees, can provide an early warning system for pests.
