Free Introductory Training in Invasive Species Management
This free online course launched in early 2026 provides basic information about invasive plant species ID, treatment approaches, and field safety for volunteers and new crew members working with invasive plant management.
UF/IFAS and the UF School of Forest, Fisheries, and Geomatics Sciences are collaborating with multiple partnering organizations to develop a tiered-training series on invasive plant management. The first tier, designed for volunteers and new crew members, is now open for enrollment and is free to take. Approximate time for completion is two hours and includes six modules:
- Why manage invasive plants?
- Basic botany
- Common pesticide application methods
- Core label-reading skills
- Environmental and applicator safety
- Field work survival skills
