Dr. Daniel Johnson is assistant professor of silviculture at the University of Florida IFAS School of Forest, Fisheries, and Geomatics Sciences. His research focuses on addressing gaps in our knowledge about how forests function and respond to change. Whether the change is natural or anthropogenic, we need to understand what the outcome of forest dynamics will be to best manage our forest for a sustainable future. His research ranges from local to global in scale and utilizes data from across scales to inform forecasting, management and policy. Using a mixture of experimental and observational data sets, he analyzes spatial and temporal forest change.
